Changelog
What changed in each beta build, in plain language. New entries go at the top.
Cocoa Notes is in public beta, so this page moves. Every TestFlight build gets an entry here the day it goes out, including the builds that only fix things. If something you reported is missing from a list, write to hola@cocoanotes.app and it goes in.
Beta 1 · September 2026
The first build open to people who are not me.
In this build
The notebook, complete: paginated notes on ruled, squared, dotted or blank paper, page numbers, dog-ears and thumbnails. Named highlighter pens, with every mark gathering into a list per pen across a course or the whole library. Flashcards, recall sessions, quizzes and exams generated from those marks. Lecture slides and PDFs beside the page, with any sentence linkable to a specific slide. Plain Markdown storage in a folder you pick, optionally in iCloud Drive. Import from Notion, Evernote, Bear, Obsidian, Apple Notes and Word. Daily backups and version history.
Known rough edges
First launch asks where your notes should live before it explains why, which several people have found abrupt. Large PDF decks take a moment to convert the first time you attach them. The study scheduler is Leitner-style and tuned for a semester, not a lifetime, so it is deliberately simpler than Anki's.
What would help most right now
Use it for one real course rather than a test folder, and tell me what confused you first. That one sentence is worth more than a bug list.
Before the beta
A year of building, alone, in Swift. Nothing to report here that you could have installed.
